NRL 2020: NZ Warriors extend loan deals for Jennings, Daniel Alvaro, but Hopoate departs

Good and bad news for the NZ Warriors on the loan-player market.

The club has announced extensions for Parramatta Eels pair George Jennings and Daniel Alvaro, but Manly outside back Albert Hopoate has been recalled, without even pulling on a Warriors jersey.

Sunday's 20-14 win over Canterbury Bulldogs in Sydney was supposed to be a farewell for winger Jennings and prop Alvaro, but with the near fully fit Eels soaring inside the top four, the pair will stay with the Warriors for at least another month.

But the Sea Eagles have been hit with their own injury crisis, so have opted to recall 19-year-old Hopoate.

"We're thrilled Daniel and George are able to stay on, but we're also disappointed for Albert, who leaves without playing for us, after just a week in camp," says Warriors recruitment manager Peter O'Sullivan. "He's a terrific young man.

"We really appreciate the lengths [coach] Brad Arthur, [recruitment manager] Peter Sharp and the Eels, as well as the NRL, are going to in helping us at a time when we're so desperately short of players.

"Daniel and George have fitted in so well in our environment, and have been a real credit to their club with the way they've conducted themselves, on and off the field."

Since joining the Warriors, Alvaro and Jennings have contributed to the team's run of three wins in their last four outings, with Jennings scoring a try against the Sea Eagles earlier this month.
