Cricket: Amelia Kerr guides White Ferns to rare T20 win over Australia

The White Ferns have salvaged a five-wicket win in the third and final Twenty20 international against Australia on Wednesday.

A brilliant display with both bat and ball from Amelia Kerr ensured New Zealand were spared a 3-0 whitewash, chasing down Australia's target of 123/7 with three balls to spare.

Kerr's 2/18 led an excellent NZ bowling effort, before a swashbuckling late cameo of 18 runs off just 10 balls - including three fours - secured the win for her side.

After Sophie Devine (25) set a solid foundation, Amy Satterthwaite (30) and Katey Martin (23) combined late to set the stage for Kerr's heroics.

The victory is the White Ferns' first in T20s against Australia since 2017.

"It felt pretty good to get a win against a quality side," says Kerr. "Nice to get a bit of momentum going into the one-dayers."

The first one-day international is scheduled for Saturday.
