Cricket: White Ferns prepare to lead return of NZ international sports

The White Ferns are about to end their two weeks of quarantine in Brisbane for Saturday's opening Twenty20 international against Australia.

Since they arrived across the Tasman, they've only been allowed to move between their hotel and the practice nets, and the break in routine can't come soon enough.

"I think we're definitely looking forward to going for a bit of a walk tomorrow," White Ferns batsman Maddy Green tells Newshub.

Uncapped leg-spinner Dee Doughty hopes a change of scene will help ease any nerves for game one against the world champions.

"I guess there is an element of that in there, but I think when you bowl to the likes of Sophie [Devine], Suzie [Bates], Maddy, people like that in our team you know, they're pretty well up there," says Doughty.

But despite boasting plenty of world class players, the White Ferns have lost their last five in a row against Australia, including their World Cup showdown earlier this year.

"It was pretty gutting to lose to them in such a close game, but I think we can take a lot of confidence from that performance as well," Green says.

"We're really up for the fight and it would be great to get one back over them."

And securing the Rose Bowl in the one-day series for the first time since 1999 will make the long stint in quarantine all worthwhile.
