Kiwi golfer Lydia Ko has made a positive start at the second women's Major of the year, sitting in a tie for ninth after the first round in the ANA Inspiration at Rancho Mirage, California.
A birdie on the final hole saw Ko card a three-under 69, with most golfers having completed their rounds.
American Nelly Korda is leading after the first round, sitting three shots clear of Ko at six under.
Ko is in a 10-way tie for ninth, alongside Lin Xiyu, Brittany Lincicome, Kristen Gillman, Hannah Green, Georgia Hall, Melissa Reid, Lee Mi-hyang, Park Sung-hyun and Kim Sei-young.
Starting her round on the back nine, she started strongly, eagling the 11th, before dropping a shot on the 16th.
Ko recovered on the 18th with a birdie, which she nailed again on the last hole of her round.
The tournament is usually scheduled for April, but the coronavirus pandemic saw the event delayed.
Ko won the tournament in 2016. The 23-year-old has been in top form since golf returned in July, with all her finishes coming inside the top 30.
She had a golden chance to end her two-year title drought at the Marathon Classic in Ohio, but blew a five-shot lead over the last six holes.
Last month, she tied for 14th at the British Open, where only five golfers completed the tournament with scores of even-par or under.
Meanwhile in Europe, Kiwi Ryan Fox is tied for ninth after the opening round of the Portugal Masters.
Fox shot a four-under 67, but is six shots behind Scottish leader Liam Johnston.
