Netball: Mainland Tactix pull off ANZ Premiership coup with Karin Burger signing

The Mainland Tactix have added Silver Ferns star Kartin Burger to their squad for the 2021 ANZ Premiership season.

The World Cup winner was key in the Central Pulse's recent competition win, but will be wearing new colours next season.

Burger will replace fellow international Temalisi Fakahokotau in red and black, who has shifted North to the Waikato-Bay of Plenty Magic.

"We are sad to see Temalisi go, as she has been a fantastic team member but we understand that family should always take priority." Tactix coach Marianne Delaney-Hoshek says.

"She has made a significant contribution over the past four seasons and we have seen her develop on and off court."

Burger is understood to have been keen to develop her play in the goal defence bib, which is owned at the Pulse by skipper Katrina Rore.

The Tactix provide the perfect opportunity for the South African born Kiwi to play in her preferred position.

"We are excited about the addition of Karin which will allow Jane [Watson] to play more in the GK role.

"She brings a determined attitude and will only enhance our options at the defence end."

The Tactix have also retained key internationals Watson and Te Paea Selby-Rickit on two-year deals, with Kimiora Poi signing a 12-month extension.
