7:49pm - A 2:04:676 for Holdsworth .... good enough for sixth...Cam Waters and Will Davidson will start from the front row.

7:48pm - Tardy lap so far - down by 4-tenths at the first.

7:47pm - Final runner is Lee Holdsworth in the Tickford Mustang.

7:46pm - Small mistakes at the final two corners costs SVG - 2:04:451. he's angry at himself for "stuffing up" his lap.

7:45pm - Second sector up and he is .0181 down - tiny margin.

7:44pm - Shane van Gisbergen up next and he is flying ... 0.042 down at the first.

7:42pm - 2:04:002 for Scotty - a brilliant lap for the defending Bathurst champ - he is "stoked" with the lap.

7:41pm - McLaughlin just 1-tenth down at the second sector.

7:40pm - Scott McLaughlin up next ...... he is down by 0.86 at the first sector .... second quickest at that point.

7:39pm - 2:03.559 for Waters! Epic lap from the young Australian .... one of the fastest laps ever recorded in a supercar at Bathurst and the fastest ever shootout lap at Bathurst.

7:38pm - Waters up by 4-tenths at the second sector - electric lap so far.

7:37pm - Waters on track for pole at the first sector .... up by 0.1 of a second with the fastest first sector of the week.

7:34pm - Cam Waters has been one of the quickest all week and is Mark Skaife's pick for pole ... he is up next in the Tickford Mustang.

7:32pm - Whincup goes off the track at the Chase and records a 2:06:394 and unless the rain comes he will start on the fifth row .... he was on track for pole at that point so big mistake from the seven-time champion.

7:31pm - Nothing in it at the second sector .... this is close.

7:30pm - Stellar lap so far for Jamie .... down by .28 of a second at the first sector.

7:29pm - Jamie Whincup - four time race winner is up next in the Red Bull Holden.

7:28pm - Coulthard finishes with a 2:04.85 - just behind De Pasquale. Fabs says he was lacking for grip, but he is happy enough to keep the car off the walls.

7:26pm - First sector completed and Fabs is down by 3-tenths .... second slowest time in that sector.

7:25pm - The first of the Kiwis is up - Fabian Coulthard in the DJR-Team Penske Mustang.

7:23pm - A 2:04:768 for Anton - good enough for third so far.

7:22pm - Anton is down by a smidge at the first sector ... super close.

7:20pm - Mostert's time was the quickest of the week ..... he says there was a little drizzle heading up the mountain but didn't slow him down.

7:19pm - Anton de Pasquale in the Penrite Holden is next .... he is my smokey pick for pole so I'm guessing I just put the mockers on him.

7:18pm - Mostert goes top with a sensational 2:04:01 - mega lap from Chaz...mega. Mostert had a big slide at the top, but was able to keep it together.

7:16pm - Mostert up by a tenth at the first sector.

7:15pm - Rain is here folks - light drizzle at the top of the mountain. Chaz Mostert for Walkinshaw-Andretti United is next.

7:14pm - 2:05.354 for James - car just didn't look hooked up at all.

7:13pm - Courtney down by 2-tenths at the first sector and almost a second down at the second.

7:12pm - James Courtney up next - the 2007 runner-up has just re-signed with Tickford for 2021.

7:11pm - Great lap from Percat - a 2:04:247 - that is 3-tenths quicker than he went yesterday. That's impressive. The fastest lap he has ever recorded at Bathurst.

7:08pm - Percat begins his lap in dry conditions.

7:04pm - First out will be Nick Percat in the Brad Jones Racing Holden - two race wins for the 2011 Bathurst champion - he has been up the front of the grid all season and this weekend has been no exception.

A reminder of our pole contenders .... they will run in reverse order.

1.Lee Holdsworth
2.Shane van Gisbergen
3.Scott McLaughin
4.Cameron Waters
5.Jamie Whincup
6.Fabian Coulthard
7.Anton De Pasquale
8.Chaz Mostert
9.James Courtney
10.Nick Percat

6:57pm - A little under 10 minutes away ..... still dry but the clouds are hovering.....going out early might earn you pole here so advantage Nick Percat if the rain hits.

5:52pm - Rain is still holding off - but only just. Hopefully it stays away for another two hours or so. If the rain does hit, back Shane van Gisbergen for pole - he is a rain master.

4:42pm - The weather is starting to cave at the Mount. The wind has come in and it's bringing black clouds with it.

3:05pm - Cam Waters fastest in the final practice session with a 2:04:34 followed by Holdsworth, Mostert, SVG, McLaughlin and Coulthard. But conditions are set to be very different come the shootout with heavy rain forecast.
