Cricket: Auckland's Kyle Jamieson bags five-wicket haul in Plunket Shield opener against Otago

Blackcaps fast bowler Kyle Jamieson picked up the first five-wicket bag of the Plunket Shield season against Otago at Eden Park.

The two-test Kiwi took 5/39 as the Aces bowled the visitors out for 189 on a very green wicket at the Outer Oval.

It could have been a lot worse for Otago had it not been for power-hitting allrounder Michael Rippon.

The left-hander notched his first first-class century, eventually out for 106 as Otago recovered from 33/6 after the first hour's play.

In reply, Auckland were 79/3 with Blackcaps limited-overs specialist Martin Guptill unbeaten on 37.

Canterbury will start day three at the Basin Reserve on 148 for 5 in reply to Wellington's first innings of 65.

New Zealand international  Matt Henry took 4/22 in the Wellington innings.

Rain has continued to hamper the game in Hamilton on day two with Northern Districts 121 without loss batting first against Central Districts.

Former test opener Jeet Ravel is at the crease on 68.
