Golf: Late-round struggles haunt Danny Lee, Lydia Ko stumbles

Kiwi golfer Danny Lee has capitulated spectacularly through the back nine of his second round at the latest PGA event in California.

Lee was tracking well at five under par at the Zozo Championship, before dropping a staggering nine shots in the final four holes.

A bogey, two double bogeys, and a quadruple bogey saw him stumble 16 spots on the leaderboard to finish tied for 73rd.

It's the latest in a series of late-round struggles for the 30-year-old, who last month stole headlines, when he took the frustrations of a six-putt horror show out on his bag, which he attacked with his putter.

Heading into the third round, American Justin Thomas sits atop the standings at 14-under.

Meanwhile, Lydia Ko's made progress up the leaderboard, but remains well off the pace, after two rounds of the LPGA Drive On Championship in Georgia.

Starting the day with the top 10 in her sights, Ko's slip-up on the final hole spoiled an otherwise solid second round, where a bogey saw her fall to a share of 21st.

The Kiwi's carded a two-under 70 to be three under par for the tournament, seven shots behind leader Ally McDonald, who leads at 10 under.
