Golf: Solid third-round has Lydia Ko in contention at LPGA event in Georgia

Kiwi golfer Lydia Ko has completed a solid third round to stay in contention at the latest LPGA event in Georgia.

Ko has shot a four-under 68, featuring six birdies and a double-bogey on the par-four fifth hole.

She is now only six shots off the lead entering Monday's final round of the Drive On Championship, with American Ally McDonald one shot clear at the top of the field.

Ko’s third round was her best of the tournament, after firing 70 and 71 in her previous two.

The 23-year-old is chasing her third top-10 finish since the tour resumed, after COVID-19 forced the tour to shut down in March.

Ko hasn’t won a tour title since April 2018, when she won the Mediheal Championship in California.

Meanwhile, compatriot Danny Lee shot a one-under 71 to drop two places at the Zozo Championship in California.

After a second-round capitulation that saw him drop nine shots in the final four holes, Lee had four birdies and three bogies to continue his inconsistent form.

He's currently three-over for the tournament to leave him in 75th place, just two places off the bottom of the leaderboard.
