All Blacks v Argentina: 'Not good enough' - Aaron Smith furious after back-to-back defeats

A frustrated Aaron Smith says the All Blacks losing in back-to-back tests is "not good enough", following their shock 25-15 defeat to Argentina.

Playing in their first test in over 400 days, massive underdogs Argentina defied the odds to beat the All Blacks for the first time in 30 attempts.

The defeat came a week after the All Blacks were beaten 24-22 by Australia, the first time they've lost in two consecutive tests since 2011.

The team has plenty of time to reflect on their poor run of form as they're not back in action until November 28 when they face Argentina in Newcastle.

"It's pretty raw, pretty fresh," says Smith.

"We were disappointed in the performance. We are going to have to learn fast.

"It's two weeks in a row now and that's not good enough. It's pretty tough."

Smith added that Argentina was more "eager and desperate" and the All Blacks failed to match their intensity and flare.

"We didn't help ourselves. We let them off the hook when we put them under pressure and we weren't able to capitalise when we had the ball.

"They were hard to break down, and we fell into some of the same traps we did last week, so we're going to have a hard look at ourselves."

All Blacks vice-captain Sam Whitelock admits some of the team's senior players need to lift their game, particularly in the tight-five.

"It's up to myself as a senior player, obviously Dane [Coles] is another one, we've got to drive that big-time around our set-piece and breakdown and allow our team to play," says Whitelock.

"Talking about the tight five, we're probably a little bit like the results over the past few weeks,"

"We've had some really good performances and then someones where we know we can be better at.

"It's taking that learning and flattening out that curve so it's not so up and down."

Whitelock adds it's going to be a tough week in the All Blacks camp as they prepare for the Pumas in a fortnight.

"The biggest thing for us is about looking at the game and how we approach the upcoming week.

"We have 12 days so how we structure that is going to be critical. It's going to be different this week but we have to take the learnings and we have to learn quicker."
