West Indies cricketers have passed their final COVID-19 tests and will be released from quarantine on Friday to begin their tour of New Zealand.
The Caribbean team has come under fire this week, after video footage showed them breaking isolation protocols at their Christchurch facility. Training privileges were withdrawn, pending the results of their final tests.
Those test results have come back negative and they are now clear to resume their campaign this weekend.
"I have to apologise to the New Zealand public and the government who have allowed us to come here," coach Phil Simmons told The AM Show. "It's embarrassing from our point of view.
"The important thing here is that all New Zealanders are safe and it's a priority for us to keep safe.
"If we felt that the players did something extreme - like trying to go over the fence - they would be on their way home. We're about to finish our investigation into it and punish the players who broke the rules."
The Windies face NZ A in two warm-up fixtures next week, before opening their campaign against the Blackcaps with T20 outing at Auckland's Eden Park on November 27.
Meanwhile, 10 Blackcaps players and nine West Indians have arrived from the Indian Premier League, and have all passed health checks, before travelling to Christchurch for their 14-day isolation.
