The Possibles have prevailed over the Probables in the Black Ferns trial at North Harbour Stadium on Saturday.
In a high-intensity contest played with a test-like fervour, Kendra Cocksedge's Possibles claimed a 28-19 win in a game that would've gone a long way to helping coach Glen Moore and his team decide where their contracts would be going, as they build towards their World Cup defence on home soil in 10 month's time.
In the 63rd minute, Cocksedge weaved through defenders from a lineout to score the decisive try, after a string of substitutes saw the game open up, with hopefuls trying to press their claims for selection.
Wellington lock Joanah Ngan-Woo and Hazel Cubic also impressed for the Possibles, while Lisa Molia and Aroha Savage were among the standouts for the probables.
On Monday, the squad to play the New Zealand Barbarians in a fortnight's time will be announced.
Possibles 28 (Selica Winiata, Phillipa Love, Amy Rule, Kendra Cocksedge tries; Cocksedge 4 con) Probables 19 (Luka Connor, Lisa Molia, Patricia Maliepo tries; Ruahei Demant 2 con). HT: 28-19.
