All Blacks tackle ride for charity in managed isolation

The rugby season might be over, but there's no respite for All Blacks hooker Codie Taylor, who's taking to his stationary bike for a good cause.

Dubbed '12 hours on the 12th', Taylor is trying to ride a Watt bike for 12 hours straight, while stuck in COVID-19 managed isolation to raise money for Kiwi charity Kids Can.

The Crusader has been joined by several All Blacks teammates during his bid, which is livestreamed on YouTube.

The 29-year-old has set-up a Givealittle donations page, where he outlines the motivations for his philanthropic pursuit.

"Having spent this time in isolation, it has allowed for a lot of reflection time and it's got me thinking how privileged I am and how lucky I was to have the opportunities I was exposed to growing up, thanks to my hugely supportive parents and family," Taylor explains.

"Not all children are this lucky, and the added pressures we have all had to deal with this year means that many children and families around the country have felt it more.

"Let's make summer-time a little easier on those who go without every day."

At the time of publishing, Taylor had raised almost $9000.

The All Blacks leave managed isolation on Monday, after returning from their Tri Nations campaign in Australia.
