36th over - Another change in the bowling with Boult back into the attack. 

After two dot balls to start the over, and Blackwood turns Boult into the leg side for a single. 

Boult goes short again and Joseph has smashed Boult onto the bank for six to bring up his first test 50. 

The next ball sees Boult go short again and Joseph tires to pull him but it catches the edge and flies over the keeper for six.

Joseph punches Wagner through cover for three runs. Great shot. 

The next ball sees Blackwood tuck Wagner through square leg for a single. 

After two dot balls Joseph flies one through backward poitn and it falls safe and they will come back for two runs.

33rd over - Southee to continue. 

Blackwood has ramped Southee over the slips and it flies away for six. What a shot.  

Southee has a ball nipping back a tad, Blackwood wears it on the pad and they get through for a leg bye.

Joseph drops and runs and gets through for a quick single to keep scoreboard ticking over. 

Blackwood drives Southee through point for another single.

32nd over - Wagner to continue. A very defensive field for New Zealand. 

A full ball from Wagner sees Blackwood flick him away through mid on for a single to bring up the 50 partnership. 

Wagner goes full to Joseph and he has smashed him to cover and Latham only just had enough time to put his hands up and it doesn't stick and the catch goes down.

31st over - Southee to continue. 

Blackwood has driven Southee to mid off for a single to start the over.

After two dot balls, Joseph slashes one in the air through point and Young puts down a tough chance and it runs away for four.

After a dot ball to start the over, Blackwood punches Wagner through the cover for a single. 

Wagner goes with a full toss and Joseph has put him away for four through midwicket.

29th over - A change in the bowling after the drinks break with Southee into the attack. 

Southee starts with one on the pads and Blackwood flicks him down to fine leg for a single. 

Jospeh flicks Southee away through midwicket for three runs.

Blackwood turns Southee into the leg side and picks up an easy single. 

The attack keeps coming from the West Indies. Southee goes full and wide and Joseph smashes him over backward point for four. 

Southee finishes the over with one down the leg side that clips Joseph pads and runs down to the fine leg boundary and Wagner saves the four runs, but the West Indies batsman got back for two leg byes. (WI 128/6)

After two dot balls to start the over, Blackwood punches Wagner down the ground for a single. 

Jospeh continues to attack, with a drive that goes high over point and lands safely and Joseph gets back for two runs.

27th over - Boult to continue. 

Blackwood flicks Boult down to fine leg for four to bring up his fifty. A good fighting innings from Blackwood. 

The next ball sees Blackwood turn Boult down to fine leg for a single.

Boult falls onto the pads of Joseph and he flicks him away for four through square leg.

26th over - A change in the bowling, with Neil Wagner back into the attack. 

Wagner goes back of a length and Blackwood has cut Wagner through the covers for three runs. 

The next ball sees, Joseph edge the ball just past his leg stump and it runs down to fine leg for two runs. 

Joseph plays an attacking drive through the covers for two more runs.

After a dot ball to start the over, Blackwood controls one down to fine leg for a single.

24th over - Mitchell to continue. 

After five dot balls, Blackwood tries to cut one away but he bottom edges it into the ground. It runs through the slips for a single to end the over. (WI 93/6)

23rd over - A change in the bowling for New Zealand with Trent Boult back into the attack. 

After a dot ball to start the over, Blackwood looks to smash Boult down the ground but it has gone straight up but fallen safely. 

Blackwood goes for another attacking shot down the ground and it lands on the bounce to Williamson. He has a shy at the stumps and a direct hit has Blackwood gone but Williamson misses.

22nd over - Mitchell to continue. 

What a soft dismissell from the West Indies skipper. Mitchell goes full and Holder tries to smash him through the covers but only finds Santner who takes the easy catch but just like the first innings, Holder survives off due to a no ball 

Off the next ball, Holder flicks Mitchell down the ground for two runs. 

OUT - Mitchell doesn't have to wait long to get his man. Holder plays an attacking shot but misses it completly and it crashes into the back pad. The umpire doesn't muck around and his finger has gone up to give Mitchell his first test wicket.

21st over - Jamieson to continue. 

Jamieson starts with a full wide delivery and Blackwood throws his hands at it. It catches the edge and flies over the slips for four. 

After four dot balls, Jamieson goes short and Blackwood has hit him over backword point for four to end the over. (WI 86/5)

20th over - A change in the bowling for New Zealand, with Daryl Mitchell to bowl his first overs of the test match.

Off the first ball of the over, Holder pushes Mitchell down the ground for a single.

After four dot balls, Mitchell catches the edge of Blackwood's bat and it flies through gully for three runs to end the over. (WI 78/5)

19th over - Jamieson to continue. 

Holder is definitely taking a different approach to Blackwood, with the West Indies captain playing very defensive. 

After four dot balls, Holder drives Jamieson in the air through point and the diving Will Young puts down toguh chance. 

Off the next ball, a perfect inswinning delivery catches the inside edge of the bat and Blundell puts down a tough chance to end the over. (WI 75/5)

18th over - Wagner to continue with his short ball plan.

After a dot ball to start the over, Blackwood smashes Wagner down the ground for four. 

Wagner continues with the short ball plan and off the final ball of the over, Blackwood controls the pull shot perfectly and smashed him for four through midwicket. (WI 73/5)

17th over - Jamieson continues. 

Blackwood goes aggressively at a wide one from Jamieson. It catches the edge flies through the slips. Taylor gets a hand on it at first slip but it can't take the catch. A very difficult opportunity.

16th over - Wagner to continue with his fifth over. A very attacking field for Wagner with a field set for some short bowling. 

After four dot balls to start the over, Wagner goes short again and Blackwood his smahsed him for six over square leg.

15th over - Jamieson to continue. 

After two dot balls to start the over, Jamieson goes very short and it flies over wicketkeeper Blundell and away for five wides.

OUT - After three dot balls, Jamieson has produce a perfect yorker. It swings in late and crashes into the front pad of Chase and the umpire has given him out. Chase reviews the decision but replays show it is crashing into leg stump.

14th over - Wagner to continue. 

Wagner starts with a full delivery outside off stump and Blackwood throws the bat at it and smashed Wagner through cover four. 

 After three short balls, Wagner goes short again and Blackwood tries to get out of the way of it but it has clipped the bat on the way through and he has been given out. Blackwood reviews it and it shows the ball actually hasn't hit anything.

13th over - Jamieson to continue. 

After a dot to start to the over, Jamieson is called for a wide with the ball almost ending up at second slip. 

The third ball sees Jamieson go to straight and Blackwood flicks him off his pads for a single down to square leg.

12th over - Wagner to bowl the second over after the rain break. 

After two dot balls to start the over, the third umpire has called Wagner for a nall ball. 

The next ball sees Blackwood smashes Wagner down the ground for four. 

Blackwood cuts Wagner through point but good fielding from Boult saves the boundary and Blackwood gets through for a single.

Wagner gives Chases a ball on a good length, it catches the edge but the soft hands from Chase has saved him and it falls short of slip who fumbles it and allows a quick single. 

Off the last ball of the over, Wagner goes to straight and Chase has flicked him off his hips through mdiwcket for four. (WI 42/4) 

11th over - Jamieson will bowl the first over after the break.

4:26pm - The rain is  stopping in Hamilton and the covers are coming off the pitch so we should have play shortly. 

4:15pm - The umpires have called the tea break early due to the weather.

We have just been told West Indies Dowrich won't bat because of injury so New Zealand only needs five more wivckets for victory.

OUT - Southee goes with a short ball and Brathwaite tries to flick him over the top but can only grab the edge and Blundell takes the easy catch.

OUT - What a ball from Wagner. He gives Bravo one just outside off stump on a good length. Bravo prods at it. It catches the edge and flies to Southee at second slip who takes a good catch.

OUT - What an easy dismissal for New Zealand. Wagner goes full and straight and Brooks tries to flick him away but can't control it and sub fielder Conway takes an easy catch at square leg.

Seventh over - Southee to continue. 

After a dot ball to start the over, Bravo smashes Southee down the ground for four great shot. 

Two in two balls for Bravo. It wasn't a bad ball from Southee but Bravo smashes down the ground for four. 

Bravo sees out the final two balls of the over, a good one for the West Indies eight off it. (WI 24/1)

Sixth Over - Boult to continue. 

After two dot balls to start the over, Boult goes for the in swinging yorker, but Brathwaite plays a great shot, flicking it off his toes for four through midwicket.

Fifth over - Southee to continue. Umpires will continue with play as it's just drizzling. 

After a dot from the first ball, Southee gives Bravo some width and the West Indies batsman has a big swing but doesn't make contact. That shot came out of no where. 

Bravo plays out the remaining four balls much more sensible to end the over. (WI 12/1)

Fourth over - Boult to continue. 

Boult starts the over strongly with five dot balls before Brathwaite drives Boult through the covers for two. 

It has started raining again so we will see what the umpires do here between over. (WI 12/1)

Third over - Southee to continue. 

Southee starts with a short ball and it has been given as a wide. 

After two dot balls, Brathwaite flicks one to midwicket and he gets through for a quick single. 

What a shot. Southee goes full and straight and Bravo flicks Southee off his pads for four.

Second over - Trent Boult will bowl the second over for New Zealand. 

This session will go unitl 4:40pm with the final session from 5pm till 6:30pm with the option of an extra 30 minutes. 

After a dot ball to start the over, Campbell flicks Boult away done to square leg for two runs to get off the mark. 

OUT - Boult goes full straight and it catches the outside edge of Campbell's bat. It flies to Tom Latham at second slip and he has taken a very low catch. The umpires will go upstairs to see if the ball has carried. With the soft single being out, the third umpire didn't have enough evidence to over turn the decision so he is on his way.

After two dots to start from Southee, Brathwaite flicks Southee off his pads for two runs down to square leg.

3:20pm - Player are making their way back onto the field. Campbell and Brathwaite will open up for the West Indies. 

3:07pm - The rain has stopped and the covers are coming off. We have a mix of blue sky and dark clouds, which are hanging around. The play will resume at 3:20pm.   

2:56pm - It has just started pouring with rain in Hamilton, so play will be delayed. 

2:53pm - We will have a 10 min break before the West Indies come out for their second innings. 

64th over - Wagner to continue. 

Wagner starts with a full one on Holders pads and he flicks him away through midwicket for a single. 

Raoch is looking to be aggressive and has sliced one out to square leg for a single. 

Wagner goes very short and Holder has gone after him. It has gone straight up down to the fine leg boundary but Santner who is on as a sub fielder can't take it. 

OUT - Just two balls later, Wagner goes a full length, just short of a yorker and Gabriel has got no where near it and it has hit him right in front and he has been given out.

Off the fifth ball of the over - Holder produces a nice cover drive for two runs to keep socreboard ticking over.

Wagner starts with two dots before Holder slices one out through midwicket for a single.

Boult starts with a bouncer, which is to high and Blundell isn't able to bring it in and it runs away for four byes.

Roach sees out two dot balls before there is an appeal for LBW but it is sliding down the leg side.

Boult goes short and just outisde off-stump and Holder has a big swipe at it but doesn't make contact. Could be a sign of things to come from the West Indies captain.

OUT - Southee goes with a fullish length and just outside off-stump. Blackwood goes hard at it and it catches the outside edge and it flies to Latham who takes a comfortable catch around head hight.

He starts short and on the body of Blackwood and he flicks him away for four through square leg. Great shot. 

After two dot balls, Blackwood rocks back and crunches a shortish delivery to the left of mid-off for a single.

The first ball is perfect from Southee. He draws Holder forward and the ball swings away late and just misses the outisde edge.

52nd over - Holder and Blackwood make their way back out to the middle for the tourists. Boult will bowl the first over after lunch. 

Boult has started where New Zealand have finished the opening session. 

The second ball sees Blackwood play a nothing shot. He's done by the inward movement and it strikes him on the thigh pad.

1:46pm - Word has just come through that play will resume at 1:50pm. 

1:40pm: It has just started raining again and the covers have gone back on so we will have a delay in the resumption of play. 

1:35pm - There has been a few drops of rain over the lunch break with the covers going on. But the groundsman have just taken the covers off so we shouldn't have any delay in the resumption of play. 

Lunch: What a session for the Blackcaps with the bowlers grabbing five wickets and looking dangerous throughout. 

New Zealand couldn't have hoped for a better start with Southee picking up Campbell in the opening over. 

In Southee's next over, he picked up Brooks with a perfect outswinger that flew to Taylor at first slip. 

Boult got in on the action removing Brathwaite in the fourth over to have the West Indies in all sorts of problems. 

Wagner and Jamieson got a wicket each to finish the session and have the visitors in big trouble at 114/5 at lunch.

Wagner could have had a second wicket but over-stepped when he had trapped Holder plumb in front.

Blackwood and Holder put together a partnership of 35 to end the session to slightly correct things but they still trail by 405 runs.

OUT - He starts with a delivery on a back of the length. It crashes into the pads and there is a big shout for LBW but it's given not out. New Zealand review and it shows it is crashing into middle stump. What a ball from Wagner.

39th over - Another change in the bowling for the Blackcaps with Kyle Jamieson coming into the attack, ending the impressive spell of Southee.

Bravo drives Jamieson off the first ball of the over. It flies in the air but it's in the gap and goes through cover for two runs. 

OUT - What a delivery from Jamieson and it's an absolute ripper!. After four dot balls, Jamieson goes full and straight. It swings in late and Bravo missses it and his stumps go flying.

Southee starts with one on the pads of Bravo. It flicks of the thigh pad and Blundell can't catch up to it and runs away for four leg byes. 

Off the next ball - Southee goes outisde off stump and Bravo drives him through the covers for two. 

The fifth ball sees Bravo flick one off his pads for a single through midwicket.

Another great over for New Zealand. Boult is challenging Bravo and Chase who are both yet to get off the mark.

31st over - Southee to continue 

Southee continuing with a great line and length. 

 Southee has got another one. Off the final ball of the over Southee goes full and straight and clips Bravo's pads and the umpire has given out. Bravo has reviewed it and it shows it has missed the lef stump. Big let off for Bravo.

30th over - Boult to continue. 

OUT - What a catch. Boult goes on full length. Brathwaite doesn't move his feet and it catches the outside edge and Blundell takes a great one handed catch moving to his right. Blackcaps are on fire right now. Three overs, three wickets.

29th over - Southee to continue. 

OUT - Southee is one fire. Southee goes with a fullish length that draws Brooks forward and it catches the edges and flies to Taylor at first slip who takes a low catch.

Darren Bravo is the next man in. Southee starts with a full one on pads and there is a shout for LBW but given not out.

28th over - Boult to bowl the second over of the day. 

Boult goes full and straight on the pads of Brathwaite and flicks Boult down to fine leg for a single.

After three dot balls, Brooks slices one away through point for a single to get off the mark.

27th over - Tim Southee will bowl the first over of the day for the Blackcaps with Campbell on strike. 

Southee starts with one on Campbell's pads and he flicks him away for four off the first ball of the day. 

OUT - What a way to start the day for New Zealand. Southee goes full just outside off stump and Campbell goes with an attack drive, trying to clear the infield but can only find Williamson at mid off. All that hard work last night and Campbell has given it away first up.

11:00am - Players are making their way onto the field. Brathwaite and Campbell will continue for the visitors. 

10:35am - They call day three moving day in test cricket. Both sides will be looking to move the game in their favour. New Zealand will be looking for wickets to put visitors on the back foot while the West Indies will be looking to close in on New Zealand's first innings total. 

It is blue skies in Hamilton and good conditions for batting. It should get up to 19 degrees today with a slight chance of rain late on in the day.

Kia ora, good morning and welcome to Newshub's live coverage of day three of the opening cricket test between New Zealand and West Indies at Hamilton's Seddon Park.

The West Indies will resume play at 49/0, after the Blackcaps decleared on 519/7 during their first innings, just after the tea break.

The Blackcaps' large score was down to Kane Williamson's epic knock as he was  dismissed for 251.

After play on day two, Williamson revealed he and his parter, Sarah Raheem are expecting the couple's first child later this month.
