Motorsport: Formula One driver Nikita Mazepi's future in doubt over inappropriate video

Rookie Formula One driver Nikita Mazepin may have blown his chance of racing at the top level, after an inappropriate video was posted to his Instagram account.

Just days after being announced as a driver for the Haas F1 team, the disturbing video may just see his dreams parked.

The video shows Mazepin sitting in the passenger seat of a car, before the camera pans to capture back seat, where he reaches back and gropes a woman's chest area.

The woman in the footage moves Mazepin’s hand before raising a middle finger and swatting the camera away.

After it was published, the video quickly went viral, before it was removed from his personal account.

Haas have condemned the actions of their young driver and declared they will take actions over their new driver's behaviour.

"Haas F1 Team does not condone the behaviour of Nikita Mazepin in the video recently posted on his social media," they say.

"Additionally, the very fact the video was posted on social media is also abhorrent to Haas F1 team.

"The matter is being dealt with internally and no further comment shall be made at this time."

The 21-year-old quickly released his own statement apologising for his actions and admitting he must do better.

"I am sorry for the offence I have rightly caused and for the embarrassment I have brought to Haas F1 Team.

"I have to hold myself to a higher standard as a Formula 1 driver, and I acknowledge I have let myself and many people down. I promise I will learn from this."

Mazepin is the son of Russian billionaire Dmitry Mazepin, who financially backs Haas racing.

The final race of the Formula One season is scheduled for Abu Dhabi this weekend.
