Top Kiwi sportsman fighting drug charges to take name suppression bid to High Court

A top sportsman has taken his fight for name suppression to the High Court.

It comes after the Manukau District Court ruled that media could reveal the man's identity two weeks ago.

However, his lawyer, Greg Bradford, had until today to file an appeal in the High Court, which he has.

The sports star denies several charges relating to importing and possessing methamphetamine.

Police arrested him and three others last year after undertaking a search warrant of his Auckland property.

He is due to face trial next October.

His name suppression continues until March 30 when there will be a hearing in the High Court.
