Cricket: Claire Polosak to become the first female to officiate at men's test match level in Australia v India third test

Australia's Claire Polosak is set to become the first female to officiate in a men's cricket test match.

The 32-year-old will be the fourth umpire during Australia's third test against India at Sydney's SCG.

In 2020, Polosak became the first woman to umpire a men's One-Day International, standing for the associate match between Oman and Namibia.

Polosak has also stood in Australian State cricket since 2017.

The match will be handled on-field by former Australian internationals Paul Reiffel and Paul Wilson, with Bruce Oxenford handling third-umpire duties.

Polosak will be responsible for overseeing pitch preparations and repairs, assessing player injuries and replacements and organising replacement and new balls.

She is also on standby to replace any of the other match umpires if required.

The series is tied 1-1 with two tests to play.
