Cricket: Lockie Ferguson, Kyle Jamieson win big at ESPN Cricinfo awards

Blackcaps bowlers Lockie Ferguson and Kyle Jamieson have won big honours in the annual ESPN Cricinfo awards.

Ferguson has picked up the Best T20 Bowling Performance of 2020, with his 5/21 against West Indies in Auckland in November, while Jamieson has been named Debutant of the Year.

When Ferguson was handed the ball in the first T20 of the summer, openers Andre Fletcher and Brandon King had raced to 55 in just three overs.

Straight away, the aggressive fast bowler struck with three wickets in his first seven balls, before coming back at the death to grab two more in just four deliveries and claim only the second T20 five-wicket bag in Blackcaps history.

Jamieson burst onto the international scene with a blockbuster performance against India last summer, when he grabbed nine wickets for the series and man-of-the-match award in the second test.

He then continued that spectacular form with 11 wickets in the West Indies series and bettered that with 16 against Pakistan.

The Auckland bowler ended the year with incredible statistics, averaging just 14.44 runs per wicket and bowling 56 maidens out of 159 overs in 2020 test cricket.

Jamieson didn't just star with the ball - he also contributed with the bat, averaging 56.60 runs in tests, including a fifty against West Indies.
