World Test Championship: How England's first test win over India shapes Blackcaps' finals opponents

Another test match down and another twist, as the Blackcaps sit and wait to discover who they will play in the World Test Championship final.

England have completed a crushing 227-run win over India at Chennai to boost their chances of playing at home - at Lord's - in July. The result promotes them to the top of the championship table, above New Zealand.

Both England and India still have work to do to make it to London, while Australia are still in the hunt while the series is still alive.

Victory for England in next week's second test, again in Chennai, would move them within one test win of securing their place.

Meanwhile, India must win at least two of the remaining three tests, and avoid another defeat to book their spot.

How to get to Lord's

  • England - Win the series 3-0 or 3-1
  • India - Win the series 2-1 or 3-1.
  • Australia - Series drawn or England win 1-0, 2-1 or 2-0.
