Super Rugby Aotearoa: All Blacks prop Alex Hodgman's season over with three-week ban

  • 19/04/2021

All Blacks prop Alex Hodgman will miss the final three weeks of Super Rugby Aotearoa action for the Blues, after his dangerous tackle during the loss to the Highlanders in Dunedin.

In the 72nd minute of the Blues' 35-29 defeat, Hodgman was shown a red card, after making contact with his shoulder directly to the head of Highlanders forward James Lentjes.

He entered an early guilty plea for the subsequent foul play charge, which has resulted in a three-week ban from the SANZAAR judiciary.

With just two rounds of play - plus the final - remaining, the suspension ends Hodgman's Super Rugby Aotearoa season.

The 27-year-old should be available to return to the field for the Blues' opening game of the inaugural Super Rugby Trans Tasman competition against the Rebels on May 15.
