Golf: Lydia Ko moves up leaderboard after second round improvement at Mediheal Championship

Lydia Ko has moved up the leaderboard at the LPGA's Mediheal Championship in California, carding a second-round two-under 70.

Beginning the day seven shots off the first round leader, Ko started her round in style with a birdie on the second hole, and added another on the seventh to finish her front nine at two-under.

Another birdie on the 13th moved Ko to three-under, only to drop a shot on the very next hole with a bogey on the 14th. 

Ko made par on her last four holes to finish her second round, moving to two-under overall and a tie for 17th.

The Kiwi trails the leader by five shots heading into the third round.

Danielle Kang of the USA is the outright leader at the halfway stage, sitting at seven-under after shooting 66 in her second round.

First round leader Leona Maguire of Ireland has dropped back into a tie for second after a one-over round of 73.
