Horse Racing: Back-from-dead Ricky May brings up magic milestone

Eighteen months ago, harness racing star Ricky May had to be brought back to life, after suffering a heart attack in the middle of a race.

May has now reached a magic milestone, notching up career win No.3000 and becoming just the third Kiwi driver to do so.

The feat has been a goal of May's, since he returned to racing 10 months ago, and he brought up the famous win driving Sheeza Artist.

"It was pretty hard to come back," admits May. "I'm probably a bit overcome - I don't usually get like that.

"I came back to the stables and all the drivers I drive against clapped me in. I was pretty overcome by it all, to be fair."

May is 581 wins off the all-time record, held by Tony Herlihy.
