Cricket: Blackcaps to tour Pakistan for first time since 2003 for ODI, T20 series

The Blackcaps will tour Pakistan for the first time in 18 years, confirmed to play three one-day and five T20 internationals later this year.

Starting on September 17, New Zealand will face their hosts in an ODI series at Rawalpindi, before moving to Lahore for the T20 series between September 25-October 3.

The tour will see the Blackcaps return to Pakistan for the first time since 2003, with the nation unable to host international cricket between 2009-19, after the Sri Lankan cricketers were the targets of a terrorist attack.

In the meantime, New Zealand have faced Pakistan three times in their temporary UAE 'home' venue, winning two ODI series and drawing the third.

Pakistan have won two T20 series against the Kiwis in the UAE, drawing a third 1-1.

New Zealand also famously won a 2018 three-test series in the UAE, drawing another in 2014.

"We're very much looking forward to returning to Pakistan for the start of their home international season," says NZ Cricket chief executive David White.

"New Zealand was the first country outside India to tour Pakistan and we share a close relationship with the PCB.

"It's great that, after such a difficult time for Pakistan, international cricket is again being played in the country."

The Blackcaps will face Pakistan at the T20 World Cup later this year and return to Pakistan in 2022, as part of the World Test Championship cycle, playing a two-match series.
