NRL: 2021: NZ Warriors say goodbye to Pita Hiku for season-ending clash with Gold Coast Titans

A recurring shoulder injury for Chad Townsend means the veteran playmaker's second stint at the NZ Warriors has come to an end.

The 30-year-old was a mid-season recruit for the club after he was released by the Cronulla Sharks and is heading to the North Queensland Cowboys next season.

Townsend has only managed five winless appearances for the Warriors since rejoining the club in June.

Sean O'Sullivan and Chanel Harris-Tavita will line up in the halves as the club looks to end the season as they started - with victory over the Gold Coast Titans.

The match will also mark the end of fan favourite centre Pita Hiku, who will play his 73rd and final game for the Warriors before heading to the Cowboys to join Townsend and former coach Todd Peyton.

Matt Lodge has been named at prop, but the hard-hitting enforcer is likely to miss the clash through suspension as the club awaits a hearing for a grade one dangerous contact charge stemming from Friday night's loss to the Canberra Raiders.
