Cricket: New Zealand blow chance for series-levelling win in second one-day international against England

The White Ferns trail England 2-0 in the five-match one-day international series after suffering a 13-run loss in Worcester.

New Zealand rolled the hosts for 197 after Sophie Devine won the toss and elected to bowl, with Hannah Rowe and Leigh Kasperick taking three wickets each, while top-order batter Danni Wyatt notched an unbeaten 63 for England.

In reply, Suzie Bates (28) and Lauren Brown (22) had the White Ferns on track for a series-levelling victory as New Zealand worked their way to 63/1 from the first 14 overs.

But three quick wickets had the tourists 85/4 before rain forced the players off the field for 90 minutes.

On return, the target became 183 from 42 overs, leaving the White Ferns needing 98 runs from 22 overs.

Sophie Devine (28) and Brooke Halliday (29) threatened to turn the game New Zealand's way, but the loss of regular wickets halted the run chase, with the Ferns bowled out for 169 with 18-balls remaining.

The two sides head to Leicester for game three on Wednesday night.
