NRL 2021: Blake Ferguson try-double lifts Parramatta Eels past Newcastle Knights in elimination playoff clash

Two tries to veteran winger Blake Ferguson have helped the Parramatta Eels topple the Newcastle Knights in an elimination NRL playoff clash in Rockhampton.

The Eels scored five tries to four in a 28-20 win to book a showdown with the Penrith Panthers next week in another sudden-death match.

Ferguson scored tries either side of halftime, as his side turned around a 10-6 deficit to lead 22-10, midway through the second half.

But two tries in five minutes to Knights winger Enari Tuala led to a tense finish with the Eels up by two points.

The Knights were gifted several chances in the final 10 minutes with mistakes coming at will from the Eels, but they couldn't find the killer blow and a 77th-minute penalty try sealed victory for the Eels.

Only six teams remain in the competition with Melbourne Storm and South Sydney Rabbitohs a win away from the Grand Final.

The Storm play the winner of the Eels and Panthers clash, while Souths await the winner of Sydney Roosters v Manly Sea Eagles.
