NRL 2021: Workhorse NZ Warriors forward Tohu Harris earns second straight Simon Mannering Medal

NZ Warriors forward Tohu Harris has won his second straight Simon Mannering Meal - the club's highest honour - despite missing much of the season through injury.

Tipped as the club's next captain, after the departure of Roger Tuivasa-Sheck to rugby, Harris suffered a season-ending knee (ACL) injury that limited him to just 15 games, but still held off prop Addin Fonua-Blake, centre-turned-second rower Euan Aitken and hooker Wayde Egan for Player of the Year honours.

Voted for by coaches and players, the second-rower became the fourth payers to win the award in consecutive years, after Steve Price, Mannering himself and Tuivasa-Sheck.

Fonua-Blake was named Players' Player of the Year, teen sensation Reece Walsh took out Rookie of the Year, while Marcelo Montoya was named Clubman of the Year.

The Warriors have confirmed they will base themselves at Redcliffe, near Brisbane, for the 2022 season, while still hoping to stage half their home fixtures at Mt Smart Stadium, border access allowing.
