The Northern Districts' men's and women's T20 cricket teams have adopted a new name.
Known as the Knights in the men's competitions and the Spirit on the women's side, both teams will adopt the Northern Brave for the New Zealand domestic T20 competition.
Northern Districts becomes the country's first major association to bring their two senior teams under the same name.
ND first embarked on the brand change in 2017 and was nearing the end of the process in 2020 when New Zealand Cricket had to put the project on hold due to challenges presented by COVID-19.
But ND chief executive Ben MacCormack and his board agreed to continue to push on with the project, with the key objective to establish a unified identity to inspire the next generation and grow the game.
"We identified the importance of creating a united brand, gender-neutral in nature and inspiring in name," MacCormack says.
"We want to be the club that pushes the boundaries and keeps evolving to ensure we are relevant for tomorrow’s society."
"T20 is undoubtedly our consumer format in domestic cricket and we are excited to see how people all across our region, the country and the world connect with our new brand.
"Let's be 'Brave'."
The Northern Brave's new playing strip, due to be unveiled when the Super Smash gets underway in November, and will be the same across both male and female teams, representing "One Club, Two Teams".
