All Blacks v Ireland: Rieko Ioane retakes starting centre spot, David Havili benched, as Ian Foster rejigs strongest side

All Blacks coach Ian Foster has made a major change to his strongest possible side, naming his matchday 23 to face Ireland in Dublin on Sunday (NZ time).

In a midfield rejig, Rieko Ioane has been named in the No.13 jersey, with Anton Lienert-Brown moving infield to second-five. David Havili has been moved to the bench to accommodate the new starting midfield pair.

Sevu Reece is the only player to retain his starting position from the 47-9 victory over Italy at Rome, but shifts from the right wing to the left to accommodate Ioane's switch to midfield.

The rest of the starting XV sees Foster continue with his strongest possible side that defeated Wales 54-16 in Cardiff.

The trio of Joe Moody, Codie Taylor and Nepo Laulala make up the front row, with Brodie Retallick and Sam Whitelock in at lock to complete the tight five.

Ethan Blackadder starts on the blindside flank, as Dalton Papalii retains of the No.7 jersey, with Ardie Savea at No.8.

TJ Perenara and newly minted test centurion Beauden Barrett make up the halves combination, with Finlay Christie moving onto the bench, after Brad Weber suffered concussion against Italy. Aaron Smith has not been included after his arrival from New Zealand earlier this week.

Will Jordan returns to the right wing, while Jordie Barrett starts at fullback, with Reece completing the outside backs.

On the bench, Dane Coles has won the race for the role of reserve hooker, after both he and Asafo Aumua scored try doubles in the win over Italy.

There was no room among the reserves for incumbent captain Sam Cane, who played the full 80 minutes in the win over Italy in his bid to return to full fitness.

Sunday's test against Ireland is the All Blacks' penultimate game of 2021, finishing their season against France in Paris next week.
