Cricket: Sublime Sophie Devine looks to cap stellar campaign with Women's Big Bash title

White Ferns captain Sophie Devine hopes to end a turbulent year on a high by adding an elusive Women's Big Bash title to her name.

The Perth Scorchers are gearing up to host the Adelaide Strikers in Saturday's final, in a match that could see NZ cricket reap the rewards.

With 477 runs and counting in her account so far this season, Devine's clearly feeling right at home in Western Australia.

"I feel comfortable in this competition," Devine tells Newshub. "I've played in it since its inception… year seven now, so it's been a fair chunk of my cricketing career.

Earlier this year, she took a break from that career to focus on her mental health, which is now paying dividends.

"I guess rest days and optional trainings, which I think - at this stage of my career - I really appreciate," she says.

But there's still some distance to go for the big hitter.

"I do need to stop and reflect and be really proud of where I've come from in the last six months, but know that there's a lot of work still to go into it."

With the World Cup on home soil fast approaching, Devine hopes the Big Bash final will help add another string to her bow before returning across the Tasman.

"To be able to play in pressure situations is key and what better pressure situation to play in than a final in front of 40,000 people," she notes.

The NZ skipper hopes such a scenario will be beneficial for her Kiwi teammates, when the World Cup is on the line next year.

"It's about how I can share that with my teammates and hopefully make them better cricketers, so when it comes to the crunch, we're in a better position to win a game of cricket."
