Football: All Whites confirm warm-up match against Algeria before facing The Gambia

After a drought of almost two years, the All Whites have confirmed their fourth game in just over a month, with a fixture against Algeria on Saturday (NZ time).

The NZ men are already scheduled to face The Gambia on November 17 at Dubai, but coach Danny Hay will now have the benefit of a warm-up outing against the Algerian side assembled to contest the FIFA Arab Cup later this month.

New Zealand had not played in 692 days, when they beat Curacao 2-1 and then Bahrain 1-0 at Manama in October, but are beginning to string together a campaign to qualify for next year's World Cup in Qatar.

"As good as it is to get two wins in the October window, the performance level is what pleased me the most," says Hay. "This should now be seen as the minimum we expect going forward.

"Playing a warm-up game like this is especially useful, as it allows us to try out a few different options, which is critical ahead of our World Cup qualification campaign.

"The more time we can have together, the better, so the time in camp to continue to build the culture and bonds in the squad is really important."

Hay has lost the services of US-based defender Bill Tuiloma through injury.

The two games have been moved to Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum Stadium, with the original venue ruled unfit for international play.

All Whites: Stefan Marinovic, Jamie Searle, Michael Woud, Michael Boxall, Liberato Cacace, Francis De Vries, Kelvin Kalua, Niko Kirwan, Nando Pijnaker, Tommy Smith, Joe Bell, Matthew Garbett, Sarpreet Singh, Marko Stamenic, Joseph Champness, Elliot Collier, Andre de Jong, Elijah Just, Callum McCowatt, Chris Wood
