ENG 6/0

2:59am

Anthems done and dusted. Williamson leads one last Blackcaps huddle.

Buttler and Bairstow make their way out to the middle, who'll take the ball for the Blackcaps?

It'll be Tim Southee.

2:54am

Kane Williamson and Eoin Morgan now lead their sides out onto the field for the anthems.

2:52am

Of the 14 games played at Abu Dhabi this World Cup, the team batting second has won nine.

A good sign?

The match officials make their way to the middle.

2:45am

A lot of the focus has been on the 2019 World Cup final, and how that played out, but don't forget the 2016 T20 World Cup semi between these two.

Played in New Delhi, England restricted the Blackcaps to 158/8 and chased it down with seven wickets and just under three overs to spare.

2:35am

The Blackcaps are unchanged with the XI that's seen them win their last four matches. England meanwhile bring in Sam Billings for Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow moves up from No. 4 to open.

NZ: 1-Martin Guptill, 2-Daryl Mitchell, 3-Kane Williamson (c), 4-Devon Conway (wk), 5-Glenn Phillips, 6-Jimmy Neesham, 7-Mitchell Santner, 8-Adam Milne, 9-Tim Southee, 10-Ish Sodhi, 11-Trent Boult

England: 1-Jos Buttler (wk), 2-Jonny Bairstow, 3-Dawid Malan, 4-Eoin Morgan (c), 5-Liam Livingstone, 6-Sam Billings, 7-Moeen Ali, 8-Chris Woakes, 9-Chris Jordan, 10-Adil Rashid, 11-Mark Wood

2:33am

Here we go then, both captains out in the middle for the toss.

Williamson calls tails, and he's called it right! The Blackcaps will bowl first!

We'll have the final XIs for you shortly.

2:28am

The toss will be crucial in determining today's winner. Traditionally, England love to chase a score in T20 cricket, while the Blackcaps' best work at this tournament has come when they've bowled first.

There looks to be like a fair amount of grass on the pitch, which means any assistance for the bowlers will come early.

The toss-winning captain could just be tempted to bowling first, regardless.

2:10am

Good morning! Thank you for joining us so early, with the Blackcaps on the hunt for a spot in the Twenty20 World Cup final.

We're about 20 minutes away from the toss in Abu Dhabi, with the first ball to be bowled at 3am (NZ time).

*****

Kia ora, good morning, and welcome to Newshub's live coverage of the Twenty20 World Cup semi-final between the Blackcaps and England, from Abu Dhabi's Sheikh Zayed Stadium.

More than two years on from the heartbreak of that 2019 World Cup final, the Blackcaps and England meet again in a major tournament.

But much has changed in that time, with New Zealand's World Test Championship triumph earlier this year erasing some of the hurt of Lord's. This clash will give the Blackcaps a chance at revenge though - even if they don't see it that way.

With four wins on the bounce, it'd be hard to imagine the Blackcaps wanting to make any changes to their side, regardless of the conditions on offer in Abu Dhabi.

England on the other hand will be forced into at least one change from their last game - a loss to South Africa. Opener Jason Roy has been scratched from the tournament with injury, joining Ben Stokes, Sam Curran, Jofra Archer and Tymal Mills in the casualty ward.

These two sides last met in a T20 exactly two years ago to the day, where the Blackcaps lost in - you guessed it - a Super Over.

The winner of this morning's first semi-final will meet the winner of Friday's second match, between Australia and Pakistan, in Sunday's final.

TAB odds: New Zealand $2.30, England $1.56
