Basketball: Oklahoma City Thunder, New Orleans Pelicans stage insane NBA fullcourt, buzzer-beating finish

When Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander hit a midcourt prayer with 1.4 seconds remaining, he probably thought he had done enough to force overtime in their NBA clash with New Orleans Pelicans.

He was wrong.

Gilgeous-Alexander slotted a deep three-pointer from well outside the arc to tie the scores at 110-110, leaving his rivals barely enough time to inbound the ball and advance it upcourt before the game ended.

Turns out that WAS enough time, as Josh Hart found guard Devonte Graham near his own free-throw line and he unleashed an 18.5m heave that found nothing but net, as time expired.

"I just wanted to get one up, honestly," Graham says. "I didn't want to take the ball out.

"I waited, then J-Hart passed it to me and I just let it fly."

The result brought little consolation to either of the two teams that had previously traded away Kiwi centre Steven Adams within the last 18 months. Victory raised the Pelicans (9-21) to half a game ahead of the Thunder (8-19) at the foot of the Western Conference standings.
