Rugby: All Blacks prop Joe Moody recommits to NZ Rugby until end of 2024

All Blacks and Crusaders prop Joe Moody has extended his contract with New Zealand Rugby through until the end of 2024.

A mainstay of the All Blacks front row since his 2014 debut, Moody, 33, earned his 57th test cap during the recent northern tour to go alongside his 100 Super Rugby appearances.

"It's a bloody good footy scene here in New Zealand and I've got a great set up down here in Christchurch, so I'm looking forward to getting stuck in again over the next few seasons and playing my part," says Moody, who was a member of the victorious 2015 All Blacks World Cup squad.

All Blacks head coach Ian Foster describes Moody's recommitment through the next World Cup in France in 2023 as "great news" for NZ rugby.

"He's a hugely respected member of our squad and goes about his work in a quiet, understated way," says

"We look forward to working with him in the seasons to come and I know he will be fully committed to being the best he can possibly be."

The Crusaders centurion has set the standard at his position and will continue to be an integral cog to the southerners' Super Rugby cause, says head coach Scott Robertson.

"Joe is a proud 100-game Crusader who cares about this team and has been a key part of our front row for the past nine seasons," notes Robertson.

Moody is the third senior All Black to recommit for the next World Cup campaign, after Ardie Savea and Sam Cane extended their deals earlier this month.
