Kiwi golfer Lydia Ko has moved to within five shots of the lead after the second round of the LPGA season-opening event in Florida on Saturday (NZ time).

Ko shot a four-under 68 at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions to climb to five-under overall and claim a three-way share of ninth place at the halfway stage of the tournament.

In her opening round, Ko fired a one-under 71, which saw her start the day in 14th place.

The world No. 3 carded four birdies at the Lake Nona course to continue her momentum from her resurgent 2021 season, which included winning her first LPGA event in almost three years and claimed the Vare Trophy for the lowest scoring average on the tour.

World No. 1 American Korda Korda shot six-under 66 at Lake Nona to take a one-shot lead over Gaby Lopez and Danielle Kang.
