Beijing Winter Olympics: Kiwis Alice Robinson, Peter Michael look to bounce back in Super G, 10,000m finals

Alpine skier Alice Robinson returns to action on day seven of the Beijing Winter Olympics, looking to contend in the Super G event.

Robinson entered Beijing as an outsider for medal contention with some promising form under her belt in 2020, but could only finish 22nd in her favoured giant slalom event.

The 20-year-old claimed a career-best fourth placed finish in Super G at the end of 2021, narrowly missing the podium at the St Moritz Super G World Cup in Switzerland.

In 2022, Robinson has already won silver at the FIS European Cup Downhill Race in France, making a name for herself as an alpine skier.

And after a two day break for the Kiwi contingent in Beijing, Robinson will lead New Zealand's charge on Friday, when the women's Super G final begins at 4pm (NZ time).

Elsewhere, speed skater Peter Michael will look to finally break his Winter Olympics medal drought, competing in the men's 10,000m final.

Michael, 32, came agonisingly close to medalling at the 2018 Games in Pyeongchang, but had to settle for not one, but two fourth placed finishes.

After a 26th placed finish in the men's 1500m on Wednesday, Michael will be looking to bounce back in style over the longer distance of the 10,000m.

NZ timetable:

Women's Super G final (Alice Robinson) - from 4pm

Men's 10,000m speed skating final (Peter Michael) - from 9pm
