NRL 2022: Captain Tohu Harris returns from long injury absence to lead NZ Warriors against South Sydney Rabbitohs

NZ Warriors will receive a timely boost this weekend, with the return of captain Tohu Harris for their NRL clash with South Sydney Rabbitohs at Brisbane on Saturday.

The Kiwi veteran hasn't featured for the Warriors since rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee against Penrith Panthers last July.

He'll slot back into the second row in the only change to the starting pack and will lead the team for the first time since he was officially appointed in December.

Harris' addition is the ideal antidote for the struggling side, as they try to pick themselves off the canvas, after their demoralising 29-10 defeat to shorthanded Cronulla Sharks.

Also returning is wing Marcelo Montoya, who's served a four-match suspension for his onfield slur during the win over North Queensland Cowboys last month.

Montoya will slot back on to the right wing, with Adam Pompey taking over from Rocco Berry at centre.

Euan Aitken has been named to start, but will need to pass HIA protocols, after leaving the field on Saturday with concussion.

New signings Ronald Volkman and Freddy Lussick - who have joined the club from Sydney Roosters - are named on the extended bench.

Despite their loss to the Sharks, the Warriors climbed a spot to 10th on the NRL ladder and sit two points behind the eighth-placed Brisbane Broncos.

The Rabbitohs sit ninth in the standings and will also look to bounce back from their heavy defeat to the Broncos last week.

The match will form part of the NRL's 'Magic Round', with all 16 teams playing eight matches at Suncorp Stadium over the weekend.
