All Whites fans furious over controversial loss to Costa Rica to end World Cup dreams

All Whites fans are livid after their side's FIFA World Cup dreams ended with a controversial 1-0 defeat to Costa Rica on Wednesday morning (NZ time).

The Central Americans took the last available World Cup slot thanks to a third-minute goal from Joel Campbell.

But a contentious VAR decision ruled out a Kiwi equaliser and the New Zealanders ended the game with just 10 men following the sending off of Kosta Barbarouses, also by VAR.

All Whites fans were left furious over the controversial decisions.

"It's a shame that goal was disallowed, it was a rough foul and I think VAR was wrong," one All Whites told AM from Schapiro's Sports Bar in central Auckland.

Another fan at Schapiro's Bar said: "How do you judge that in real time then go back and look at it real slow like that?"

Radio host and Dancing with the Stars host Clint Randell said everyone was "livid" over the VAR decisions.

"It's all going bad, the VAR is the reason why we got the goal disallowed and now we got the red card," Randell told AM.

"We are all livid because it's against us, but if it was against Costa Rica then I think we would be pretty excited for the VAR."
