Cricket: Blackcaps batter Devon Conway tests positive for COVID-19 before third test against England

Batter Devon Conway has become the latest Blackcaps player to contract COVID-19 on tour in England.

Conway tested positive on arrival at London in preparation for a team activity and has since begun his five days of isolation.

All-rounder Michael Bracewell, physiotherapist Vijay Vallabh and strength & conditioning coach Chris Donaldson are also isolating, after testing positive.

Both Conway and Bracewell are expected to be available for the third test, starting Thursday. They'll travel separately from the team to Leeds on Sunday and, providing they recover as anticipated, can join the squad for training at Headingley. No replacement players are being sought.

Captain Kane Williamson missed the second-test defeat at Trent Bridge, after testing positive on the eve of day one.

Meanwhile, England have given a maiden call-up to Surrey seamer Jamie Overton and omitted spinner Matthew Parkinson for the final test in the only change to the squad that notched up a five-wicket win earlier this week.

Overton, 28, has been one of the standout performers for Surrey this season, picking up 21 wickets at an average of 21.61 in the County Championship. He joins brother Craig in the England squad.

The Blackcaps will be out to finish their tour on a winning note, after losing the first two tests to concede the series.
