Golf: Lydia Ko sits joint second at halfway stage of Women's PGA Championship in hunt for third Major title

Lydia Ko is in contention at the LPGA's Women's PGA Championship in Maryland, as the Kiwi bids for her third Major title.

After two rounds in Bethesda, Ko is six shots back from the leader sitting at five-under, thanks to a second round of 67.

Ko made six birdies - including a run of four in five holes - to go with one bogey in her second round of 67, moving into a share of second place after an even-par 72 first round on Friday (NZ time).

The Kiwi, along with Jennifer Kupcho of USA trail leader In Gee Chun of South Korea, who sits at 11-under for the tournament.

Chun's lead came after a second round of 69, having raced out into a comfortable position after an eight-under 64 on the first day.

Victory at Bethesda would see Ko lift her first Major title since 2016, when she won the ANA Inspiration. Ko also won the Evian Championship in 2015 as her maiden Major victory.
