Boxing: Joseph Parker vows to stop 'hype-train' Joe Joyce for WBO interim heavyweight world title

Kiwi heavyweight Joseph Parker is vowing to stop 'hype-train' Joe Joyce inside the 12-round bout for the WBO interim heavyweight title.

Parker has gone the distance in his previous three fights, but is determined to knock out the undefeated Brit on Sunday (NZT).

Joyce is unbeaten in his career as a professional at 14-0, and coming off an impressive TKO win over German Chirstian Hammer in July.

A win for either would potentially set up a title fight against current WBO title holder Oleksander Usyk for the undisputed crown - although there is a rematch clause for Joyce should Parker emerge victorious.

Parker has been criticised in the past for his inability to end fights, but he's confident he will prove the naysayers wrong at the AO Arena.

"It depends what I show up as, Joe Joyce has one style, I don't see any adjustments, I don't see any change, it depends how I show up," he said.

"A lump -  a big man, a man that's confident and a man that's ready, but a man that's going to be stopped in his tracks.

"Yes, I truly believe that…I am very confident going into this fight, no doubt. I'm going to stop you right in your tracks - hype train."

Parker's power hasn't escaped his opponent's criticism either, but the Kiwi's trainer Andy Lee has predicted an easy night for his fighter.

Despite being the betting underdog, Parker believes his team, including that of world champion Tyson Fury have put him in good stead to win the bout.

"I don't really care what he thinks, or what his opinion is of my power or how I fight. He'll get a taste of it on Saturday night," he said.

"I've done the work and I back everything that Andy has said, we've put in the work, me and Andy, in the gym everyday, grinding away.

"You've got Tyson joining our runs and training and cheering us on, bringing positive vibes. We've got the food, recovery, everything has been ticked off in this camp.

"There's no excuses, there's no doubts, there's no reason why I'm going to go in there and lose this fight. I'm going to go in there and win and win well."
