Rugby League World Cup: Three, ThreeNow to screen free-to-air coverage of NZ Kiwis, Kiwi Ferns bid for world crown

Warner Brothers Discovery will partner Spark Sport to screen all NZ Kiwis and Kiwi Ferns Rugby League World Cup games on Three and ThreeNow over the next two months.

Coaches Michael Maguire and Ricky Henry have named strong squads for their respective tournaments, which begin in England later this month. New Zealand are currently ranked No.1 in the world for men and second, behind Australia, among the women.

"The players understand what we need to do," said Maguire. "We've got a fair bit in front of us, but the belief among the team is really strong.

"I'm not going to shy away from that - I think it's a great thing for the team."

Spark Sport will stream all 61 games of the men's, women's and wheelchair events live and on-demand, while Three and ThreeNow will carry delayed coverage of all New Zealand fixtures, starting October 17 (NZ time), when the Kiwis face Lebanon.

The Kiwi Ferns begin their campaign against France on November 3.

"We're incredibly excited to be expanding our sports offering on Three and ThreeNow through our continued partnership with Spark Sport," said Warner Brothers Discovery ANZ senior content director Juliet Peterson.

"As the free-to-air broadcaster of Rugby League World Cup 2021, we’re so proud to be supporting our men's and women's teams, and bringing Aotearoa's sports fans more of the action they love."

Warner Brothers Discovery and Spark Sport will also partner in coverage of Rugby World Cup 2021 for women, staged in New Zealand and beginning on Saturday.

New Zealand enjoys a proud history at the Rugby League World Cup, with its women capturing three consecutive titles from 2000-2008, and finishing runners-up to Australia twice since then.

The Kiwis won the 2008 tournament and finished runners-up in 2013.
