Silver Ferns defender Kayla Johnson has announced she is pregnant with her second child - another daughter.

Johnson, 30, and her husband - NZ Warriors star Shaun Johnson became parents to first daughter Millah in August 2020, and will add to their family later this year.

"Baby sister loading," Kayla Johnson posted on Instagram. "Due July 2023."

Commented Shaun Johnson: "May be small, but it doesn't miss."

Among the first to offer congratulations were the Silver Ferns, who also defend their world crown in July/August in South Africa... without Johnson now.

Others to offer their encouragement were Silver Ferns and Warriors teammates.

Kayla Johnson was unable to walk properly for a month after the traumatic birth of Millah, but returned to the national netball team in January 2022 and took her daughter on tour to the Quad Series in England.

Fellow defender Phoenix Karaka also brought new baby Pama on that trip - both were part of the Commonwealth Games bronze medal squad at Birmingham - while defender Jane Watson has newborn Tia at the current Quad Series in South Africa.
