Kiwi golfer Lydia Ko is in the hunt at the LPGA event in Thailand, after a brilliant second round on Friday.

The world No.1 shot seven birdies en route to a score of four-under 68, matching her opening round at the Pattaya course, as her hot start to 2023 continued.

Ko is now in a five-way tie for 15th at eight-under overall, just four shots behind leader Natthakritta Vongtaveelap of Thailand,  aiming to back up last week's win at the Saudi Ladies International.

The 25-year-old began strongly with a pair of birdies at the first two holes, adding another couple through the front nine.

After consecutive birdies at the 10th and 11th, she stumbled with a bogey at the 14th, then a double bogey on the 17th.

She managed to pull a shot back on the final hole of the day to remain in the running for her third win in four events.
