Blackcaps white-ball captain Kane Williamson has been carried off the field, after suffering what seemed a serious knee injury in the Indian Premier League opener.
On debut for Gujarat Titans, Williamson jumped to attempt a catch on the boundary, then threw the ball back into the field of play, as he saw he was about to fall over the rope.
He landed awkwardly on one leg and immediately clutched his right knee, writhing in clear pain on the ground.
After briefly providing treatment, medical staff carried Williamson off the pitch. He was replaced by a substitute fielder and played no further part in the match, with Sai Sudharsan moving into the playing XI, via the competition's 'impact sub' rule.
Blackcaps coach Gary Stead says they're awaiting more test results and expect to know the severity of the injury in the next 24-48 hours.
With Williamson expected to play a key role in the one-day World Cup in India in October, Stead and his fellow selectors will sweat on those results.
His efforts saved yet another six from the sizzling Ruturaj Gaikwad, who went on to score 92, although it was deemed four on review, after the ball bounced back onto the boundary rope.
Williamson was playing his first match for the Titans, after being a fixture with Sunrisers Hyderabad since 2015.
Williamson has been in vintage form this season, with test centuries in consecutive thrillers against England and Sri Lanka, bookended by double centuries against Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Blackcaps teammate and Super Kings batter Devon Conway was bowled by Mohammed Shami for just one in the third over of the match.
Mitchell Santner went for 32 runs without a wicket, as the Titans eventually chased down their 179-run target in the final over to claim a four-wicket win.
