Former US president Donald Trump has taken time out from his legal woes to watch Israel Adesanya's UFC title fight.

Adesanya is fighting Alex Pereira in a rematch for the UFC middleweight championship. Pereira beat the Kiwi UFC fighter in November last year.

Trump, who is a friend of UFC president Dana White, entered the stadium in Miami to chants of "USA, USA" before taking his seat ringside next to White, Kid Rock and former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson.

Last week Trump pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of falsifying business records when he allegedly paid hush money to former porn star Stormy Daniels.

Trump, 76, is the first sitting or former president to face criminal charges and was indicted by a Manhattan grand jury last week.

He is hoping to resurrect his political career and win the Republican nomination for the 2024 Presidential election.

Trump is a popular figure in Florida. He won the state both times he contested the presidential election and he lives in his Mar-a-Lago Resort not far from the Kaseya Stadium where the fight is being held.

Trump has attended a number of UFC events in the past and was a supporter of the sport in its fledgling days.
