Fox at the Masters: Family join Ryan Fox for emotional trip down iconic Magnolia Lane

The countdown is on for Ryan Fox, as he gets set to make his Masters debut later this week.

Some of the Kiwi golfer's nearest and dearest have made the journey to Augusta to witness a career highlight not just for Fox, but his friends and family too.

For Fox, the drive down Magnolia Lane - the famed entrance to Augusta National - is like no other.

"There probably isn't a better entrance to a golf club anywhere in the world I don't think," he told Sky Sport. "Not a more iconic one."

His dad, Grant, and his mum, Adele all passengers on a unique and unforgettable journey.

"Not many people get to take that drive, so very special," said Grant Fox. "This is the boyhood dream come true and we're here to see it. Amazing.

"Quite emotional, really."

And after taking in the iconic sights and sounds of Augusta for the first time, a chance to relax with familiar faces.

"I had a bet with at least six or seven of the guys before I turned pro - If I ever make the Masters, you guys are coming'," Fox recalled.

"At that point, I probably thought it was never going to happen but it's pretty cool to be here now.

"I think the boys are enjoying the trip so far. Hopefully I can make it a good week for them later in the week."

One of Fox's aformentioned mates replied: "I don't really think it was spoken about too much but if he'd done us dirty it would've been ugly,"

The Aucklander's win at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at St Andrew's last year that sealed his place in the Masters field and the trip of a lifetime for his mates.

"We knew he was going and then it was whether we were going to make the cut," one friend joked. "But he was pretty quick on the phone call to say we were all going.

"To see the course, see him play it…it'll be awesome."

An awesome week at Augusta awaits, with memories set to be made at the Masters.
