Basketball: Tall Ferns forward Mary Goulding in critical condition, intensive care after car accident

Tall Ferns forward Mary Goulding is in critical condition and intensive care, after a car crash in Christchurch on Saturday.

Goulding, 26, was admitted to hospital, as the Tall Ferns updated her status on social media.

"The Tall Ferns are asking people to please send positive thoughts to Mary Goulding, after she was involved in a car accident today," the team posted.

"She is currently in ICU in critical condition. Please join us in sending Mary & her family love, thoughts & prayers at this time. 

"Kia kaha Mary."

Goulding debuted for the Tall Ferns in 2019, and has played basketball for Canterbury Wildcats, and Gillete College and Fordham University in the American college system.

In Australia, Goulding has also represented Rockhampton Cyclones, Bendigo Spirit and East Perth Eagles, as well as IK Eos Lund in Sweden.

In 2022, Goulding returned to New Zealand for Mainland Pouākai in the inaugural season of Tauihi Basketball Aotearoa.
