Canoeing: Olympic superstar Lisa Carrington, Alicia Hoskin combine for K2 500 World Cup victory at Szeged

Dame Lisa Carrington continues to show now sign of slowing down in her Paris Olympics build-up, helping partner Alicia Hoskin to World Cup victory over K2 500 at Szeged, Hungary.

The success follows her individual win over 500 metres earlier in the regatta.

The pair, who finished off the podium in two races together during last year's World Cup campaign, clocked 1m 42.84s over the 500 metres, finishing more than a second clear of their Polish rivals.

For Hoskin, who contested the K4 500 and teamed with Teneale Hatton over K2 500 at the Tokyo Olympics, the result was her first World Cup win.

"It was a really good race," said Dame Lisa. "I think Alicia did an amazing job just pushing it all the way through until the end.

"We knew we had to paddle super well, because the field was so strong. We're really happy with how we did."

After beating teammate Aimee Fisher in the K1 500, Carrington also combined with Hoskin, Olivia Brett and Tara Vaughan for third in the four-seat event. Para-canoeist Scott Martlew finished second in the KL2 200.

The team will now return to New Zealand to prepare for the world championships at Duisburg, Germany in August.
