NRL: NZ Warriors players, coach feature prominently in Dally M awards nominations

Coach Andrew Webster and veteran half Shaun Johnson head a long list of NZ Warriors nominees for the annual Dally M awards, to be presented this week.

As the dust settles on their playoff elimination by Brisbane Broncos, six of the Warriors contingent having been named as contenders for NRL positional honours on Wednesday night at Sydney.

In his first season as a head coach, Webster will face opposition from former Penrith Panthers mentor Ivan Cleary and Broncos legend Kevin Walters for Coach of the Year.

Johnson is up against Panthers star Nathan Cleary and Manly Sea Eagles counterpart Daly Cherry-Evans for Halfback of the Year, while looming as a favourite for overall Player of the Year honours.

Other Warriors in contention are winger Dallin Watene-Zelezniak, hooker Wayde Egan, prop Addin Fonua-Blake and lock Tohu Harris, who is also up for Captain of the Year.

Other Kiwis among the finalists are wingers Jamayne Isaako (Dolphins) and Ronald Mulitalo (Cronulla Sharks), props James Fisher-Harris (Panthers) and Nelson Asofa-Solomona (Melbourne Storm), second-rower Briton NIkora (Sharks), and rookies Will Warbrick (Storm) and Jaream Bula (Wests Tigers), while Canberra Raiders prop Joseph Tapine is nominated for Tackle of the Year.
